Oppenheimer - Available on Prime

What a tremendous achievement. It’s a movie based on the book by “Prometheus.” He’s the guy “who stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. For this he was chained to a rock and tortured for eternity.” Such is the depiction of Robert Oppenheimer. He knew what his creation would become, what it would unleash onto the world yet he went ahead with it anyway. He knew that with the creation of quantum mechanics and the idea that the atom could be split and tremendous energy unleashed, Nazi Germany, or the Soviet Union would come up with their own version. And so, with a team of the best physicists he could get hold of, he and General Leslie Groves initiated the Manhattan project which resulted in the creation of the atomic bomb. “Oppenheimer” explores Robert Oppenheimer’s moral dilemma and the institutional framework in which free thinking scientists were forced to work. The result is a compelling movie with an excellent script well-acted that we had no problem watching from beginning to end without a break despite its 3 hour length.
